YouTube channel viewer
Read a public YouTube channel: subscriber count, video count and description, from the official Data API.
What it reads
| Route | GET /api/v1/youtube/channel |
|---|---|
| Field read | statistics.subscriberCount |
| Surface | googleapis.com Data API v3 (official, authenticated) |
| Handle format | YouTube handle without the `@`: letters, digits, dot, hyphen and underscore, 3 to 30 characters. Legacy usernames and `UC...` channel ids are not accepted here. |
| Example | mkbhd |
| Caveat from the source | rounded by the platform itself |
Measured on 2026-10-02 through our own normalizer, this field came back 15,100,000 — not null. Source of the measurement: medido no #147, vault/medicoes/2026-10-01-youtube-channel-ligado/relatorio.md. The platform rounds this number — rounded by the platform itself. Three significant figures is what the source publishes, and there is no exact value on any public surface, so this page shows a rounded count and says so. A hidden subscriber count comes back as null, never as zero.
What the response looks like
{
"id": "UCLA_DiR1FfKNvjuUpBHmylQ",
"handle": "nasa",
"name": "NASA",
"followers": 15100000,
"posts_count": 6180
}Captured from #147, relatorio de 01/10 (chamada de PRODUCAO) (relatado). Fields that came back null are omitted, and long strings are cut with an ellipsis for display — the API returns them whole.
In the archive
This platform is also a source of the trend archive, and its status there is coletando — YouTube data in the HonestHook archive. That page owns what the archive did or did not collect here; this one is only about the API field above.
