Best Pinterest API for profile follower data
A Pinterest profile page carries dozens of counters that share the same name. Boards have followers; the profile has followers. A regular expression returns a board's and looks exactly like a win.
What to require of any vendor here
- Ask which counter it reads, by name. The honest answer names the structured `ld+json` profile block — the one place in the document that says which entity the number belongs to. A vendor that says 'the follower count' has not looked.
- Ask what it puts in the verified field. Pinterest has several different badges and no single verified flag, so choosing one of them to fill a boolean publishes a badge the platform did not grant. `null` is the correct value.
Where the number actually lives
We read mainEntity.interactionStatistic.userInteractionCount from public page, logged out — ld+json, not follower_count. Handle format: Pinterest username: letters, digits, underscore and hyphen, up to 30.
What you are handing over
This is read from the ld+json ProfilePage block, not with a regular expression, because the page carries dozens of counters with the same name. Keeping that block parsed when Pinterest moves it is the part you are handing over.
What this does not return
- No following and no pin count. The public profile page does not carry them, so both stay null instead of being filled from a neighbouring counter.
- No verified flag. Pinterest has three different badges — domain verified, verified merchant, verified identity — and picking one would publish a badge the platform did not give.
- No board counters. The name follower_count appears 42 times on the page; on the profile measured when this route was built, the profile counter read 556,445 while two board counters on the same page read 527,020 and 526,128.
