HikerAPI is an Instagram API. Being about one platform is not a weakness — it is the reason it can publish 100+ endpoints for one platform, and the reason people searching for an alternative to it usually want one of two things: a cheaper way in, or more than Instagram.
Everything about their pricing below was read from hikerapi.com/instagram-api
on 3 October 2026. Our own numbers come from the module that builds our
checkout, not from a marketing page.
What they charge
Pay per request, prepaid. No subscription. Their words: "No monthly subscriptions, no hidden fees, funds never expire."
| Plan | Per 1,000 requests | Minimum top-up |
|---|---|---|
| Standard | $1.00 | $100 |
| Business | $0.69 | $299 |
| Ultra | $0.60 | $599 |
New accounts get 100 free requests on signup, no card. The default rate limit is 15 requests per second, "raised up to 150 per account on request", and they offer volume discounts above one million requests.
The $100 minimum at $1.00 per thousand is 100,000 requests — our arithmetic on their two numbers.
What we charge
| Plan | Price | Credits | Per 1,000 credits |
|---|---|---|---|
| Free tier | $0 | 1,000 per month, renewing | — |
| Monthly | $9 | 5,000 | $1.80 |
| Annual | $79 | 60,000 | $1.3167 |
| Pack | $9 | 3,000 | $3.00 |
| Pack | $29 | 12,000 | $2.4167 |
| Pack | $99 | 50,000 | $1.98 |
Their unit is a request; ours is a credit — and here they line up. Each of
our three Instagram routes costs 1 credit per call (the per-endpoint costs are
in the endpoint reference, and every response reports
credits_charged). So for Instagram, our "per 1,000 credits" is also "per 1,000
requests", and the two tables can be read side by side.
Where HikerAPI beats us, plainly
On price per Instagram request at volume, they win. $0.60 to $1.00 per thousand is below every rate we sell, including our annual plan. If you are going to spend $100 or more on Instagram data, that is the cheaper shelf.
On Instagram depth, it is not close. They list 100+ endpoints across profiles, media, stories, hashtags, locations, GraphQL and search. We have three Instagram routes: a public profile, its highlight tray, and the public embed of a profile with the posts on its grid. If you need stories, hashtag feeds, location pages or GraphQL-level media, they list them and we do not.
On throughput, 15 requests per second by default — 150 on request — is a number they publish. We have no per-second figure of ours to put next to it, so we are not going to claim one here.
That is most of the comparison, and it goes their way.
Where the shape is different
The way in. Their cheapest paid door is a $100 top-up. Ours is $9, and before that, 1,000 credits every month, renewing, no card. Their free allowance is 100 requests, once. There is no honest ratio between a monthly allowance and a one-time sample — they are two different offers, not a bigger and smaller version of one.
More than Instagram, under one key. Our catalogue has routes for twelve platforms — Bluesky, GitHub, Instagram, Linktree, Mastodon, Medium, Pinterest, SoundCloud, Threads, TikTok, YouTube and Hacker News — with one response shape. If your product reads an Instagram profile and then the same creator's TikTok, Threads and Linktree, that is one integration with us and several elsewhere.
And the past. We run an hourly archive of what is rising, never deleted. A live endpoint — theirs or ours — answers what an account is now; only an archive answers what it did last week.
How to decide in one question
Is Instagram the only platform you need?
If yes, and you will spend $100 or more: HikerAPI is the better buy on price and on depth, and this page is not going to pretend otherwise.
If you need Instagram plus other platforms, or you want to start below $100, or you need history rather than a snapshot: that is where a twelve-platform key with a renewing free tier fits.
For the rest of the field: ScrapeCreators and SociaVault sell multi-platform credits, EnsembleData meters in daily units, and Social Fetch is the one to read for breadth.
Who measured this
We did, and we sell in this category — so verify the rates yourself before they move. We have not called their API and compared a response to ours field by field; this page compares published prices and published endpoint counts, not response quality.
Per-1,000 rates, minimum top-ups, the 100 free requests, the 15/150 requests-per-second
limits, the "100+ endpoints" count and the "funds never expire" quote read from
hikerapi.com/instagram-api on 3 October 2026 — primary source, read directly. The
100,000-request figure is our arithmetic on their numbers. Our prices come from
lib/planos.js; the 1-credit cost of our Instagram routes was read from our
endpoint table on 3 October 2026; our platform list is derived from the route catalogue. Verify
before deciding.
