Removing something from the archive

If HonestHook archived a post you wrote, you can have it taken out. This page says exactly how, what happens after you write, and how long it takes. It is short on purpose.

kauvpereira@gmail.com

  1. What to send

An email with the link to the post, and a line saying it is yours. That is the whole requirement. No identity document, no notarised statement, no legal citation, and no explanation of why — the reason is yours and we do not need it.

  2. What you can ask for

Full removal deletes every row about that item. Partial removal keeps the numbers — score, comment count, the hourly history — and drops the caption and the link, which is what carries your handle. Most people want the second one. Say which; if you do not say, we do the full removal.

  3. What we do

We delete the rows, not flag them. We also add the item to a block list, so the next hourly collection does not quietly pick it up again — without that step a deletion undoes itself within the hour, which would make the promise worthless.

  4. How long

Seven days, and usually the same day. The law allows thirty; the archive is small enough that seven is honest, and if that ever stops being true the number on this page goes up rather than the answer going missing.

Cases where we do not ask anything

What this does not cover

We can only remove things from our own archive. We cannot take a post down from TikTok, Instagram, Reddit, YouTube or anywhere else — those are not ours, and a request sent here does not reach them. If the post itself is the problem, the platform is where that has to start.

Where to write

kauvpereira@gmail.com. It is a personal address rather than one at our own domain — we have the domain but no mailbox on it yet, and an address that bounces on a page promising to answer you is worse than no page at all. A person reads this one.

The full detail of what the archive stores, and what it deliberately does not, is on the privacy page.
