SocialCrawl sells vendor-owned social endpoints on credits that never expire, across what their page calls 67 platforms. The reason people look for an alternative is almost never coverage. It is that the per-credit price depends on which option inside a tier you pick, and the discount they advertise applies to one end of it.
We have a full page on SocialCrawl. This page answers why you would leave.
What it costs today
⚠️ Billed in pounds, and we do not convert. Publishing a dollar figure would mean inventing an exchange rate for today and leaving the page false tomorrow. Same rule our Data365 page follows with the euro.
| Plan | Price/month | Credits | Per 1,000 credits |
|---|---|---|---|
| Free | £0 | 100, one time | — |
| Starter | £15 | 2,500 | £6.00 |
| Growth | £49 | options from 8,000 to 20,000 | £6.13 → £2.45 |
| Pro | £299 | options from 50,000 to 150,000 | £5.98 → £1.99 |
| Enterprise | custom | — | — |
Credits never expire, "pay per call", no subscription lock. Their words on the unit: "A standard API call costs 1 credit; composite endpoints cost more."
🔴 The reason people leave: the tier is a range, and the headline is its top
Their page advertises "60% cheaper per credit" on Growth and "67% cheaper" on Pro, both against Starter. We checked:
| claim | where it lands | our arithmetic |
|---|---|---|
| "60% cheaper" (Growth) | at the 20,000 option | £2.45 vs £6.00 = 59.2% cheaper ✓ |
| "67% cheaper" (Pro) | at the 150,000 option | £1.99 vs £6.00 = 66.8% cheaper ✓ |
Both claims are true, and both describe the largest option of their tier. Now the other end of the same tier:
£49 for 8,000 credits is £6.13 per 1,000 — more expensive per credit than the £15 Starter plan. Move up a tier at its smallest option and your unit price goes slightly backwards. Nothing is hidden: the options are on the page and the arithmetic is one division. But the number you remember from the page is the one that applies at the top.
What fixes it: a single published rate per unit. ScrapeCreators publishes $1.88 and $0.99 per 1,000 and both survive the division. We bill per API call with a per-endpoint cost owned by one database row — no tier options to choose between.
What does not fix it: Scrapfly and Xpoz, where the credit itself varies by feature or platform, and Oxylabs, whose headline per-1,000 is the floor of its cheapest target.
The options, side by side
| Unit | Entry | Rate shape | Expiry | Platforms | |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| SocialCrawl | credit (1+, composite more) | £15/mo | range per tier | never expires | 67 claimed |
| ScrapeCreators | credit | $47 | one published rate | never expires | 38+ APIs |
| EnsembleData | unit per day | $100/mo | flat per tier | resets daily | 8 social |
| HikerAPI | request | prepaid | 3 tiers, lock for life | funds never expire | |
| HonestHook | API call | free, 1,000/mo | per-endpoint, published | purchased never expire | 12, one shape |
Where SocialCrawl is better than we are
Coverage, by a wide margin. 67 platforms against our 12, and that includes Reddit, X and LinkedIn — the three most-searched gaps in this market, and three we say plainly we do not serve. If any of them is in your requirements, they win and we are not a candidate.
Credits that never expire on everything, not only on purchased balance.
A cheaper top-end unit than ours at volume. £1.99 per 1,000 at the largest Pro option is a strong number for vendor-owned social endpoints.
They publish the percentage, and it is true. Most vendors in this market do not tell you the shape of their discount at all. Ours is a flat per-endpoint price, which is simpler but says nothing about volume.
Where we are better, stated narrowly
No option to pick wrong. One published price per endpoint, so there is no tier whose small end costs more per unit than the tier below it.
A per-field contract across the twelve.
Field by field, platform by platform, with every null
explained. We did not read their schema and will not characterise it from a
platform count.
An hourly archive of what is rising, never deleted — which no amount of platform coverage substitutes for, because the past was not photographed.
